Being Dufay at the Astor Theatre
Ancient music meets modern technology as a three-time international Prix Ars Electronica recipient, a former Hilliard Ensemble member and a filmmaker create a transcendent sensory experience.
Sound artist Ambrose Field realises his own score, a mesmerising series of electronic soundscapes that seamlessly mesh found and processed sounds with acclaimed tenor John Potter’s haunting live performances of vocal fragments by 15th-century composer Guillaume Dufay.
These rich soundscapes accompany seven films by Michael Lynch which unfold across the screen, slowly revealing timeless images rooted in monastic sketches, engravings and scenes from the Middle Ages.
