Apologies to those of you who are subscribed to this blog by email. I changed something in the system on Monday, which meant nobody got any emails this week! I was wondering why the emails weren’t being sent, and finally figured out what was wrong tonight!
Also, please be aware that the emails usually go out automatically around 10pm, so if I write a post after 10pm (which is often, I’m a bit of a night owl!), you don’t get it till the next day. People subscribed by rss feed will see the new posts whenever you check your feeds, this is instant.
I’d also like to mention Pascal and I are working on a new event calendar, which will be much easier to navigate, and you will be able to search it! Often when I’m busy (having a life!) I don’t have time to post that much, but everything I come across is added to the event calendar, and it will be great having one that is more user friendly!
Thanks for all the support so far, I can’t believe I’ve kept this up for 10 months already, but knowing the site is useful to so many people is really keeping me motivated (and I earn a bit of money from the ads on the side that covers the hosting and our internet connection, which helps too).
As always, contact me with any questions or tips you may have, and I’ll slowly keep making the site better!
🙂
Well, the Chinese New Year (Year of the Pig) is in full swing, and I’ve finally found some events in Perth worth blogging about! It’s still not much though… and very late notice!
On Friday (tomorrow, from 10am to 3pm) and Saturday (from 10am to 6pm) the Chung Wah Association has organised a Charity Chinese New Year Carnival!
There will be a lion dance, martial arts presentation, Chinese costume catwalk, ethnic cultural dance and ballroom and contemporary dance performances.
There will also be cultural food and beverages, market stalls and activities for children.
All profits of this carnival go to Day Long Respite Care Centre.
For more information contact the Chung Wah Association on 9328 3988. The Chung Wah Cultural Centre is located at 18 Radalj Place, Balcatta.
I found this info on the City of Stirling website. It’s not even on the Chung Wah website!
Lion Dance in Canning Vale – Saturday 24 February 2007
On Saturday from 11.45 there will be a Lion Dance performance at Livingston Market Place in Canning Vale
Fireworks – Sunday 25 February 2007
Apparently there are going to be fireworks around Burswood on Sunday night from about 9pm, for about 15 mins. This is not confirmed on any website I can find, so don’t just take my word for it! Update: I emailed Town of Vic Park and they confirmed there will be fireworks for about 15 mins between 9.15 and 9.45pm on Sunday!
And by the way, the only event that has been reasonably widely publicised, a Chinese New Year Concert at Winthrop Baptist College, has sold out!
Happy Chinese New Year to you all!
The BBC TV’s Antiques Roadshow program is coming to Perth, with Eric Knowles presenting Antique Antics at Subiaco Arts Centre on Friday 2 March 2007.
Beginning with having a chat to some of the show-goers in the foyers, to a wickedly funny presentation of irreverent anecdotes, to the main part of the Show where Eric evaluates antiques and collectables live on stage with Alan (Carter, of ABC’s Treasure Hunt) as his sidekick, this is a totally unique event.
Note: Live valuations will only be performed for people with Valuation Seating (which is limited).
Tickets are available from BOCS. Tickets are $72.65 if you want a live item valuation, and other general seating is $42.05.
For more information, please see the BOCS website, which includes FAQ.
