1916: A Love Story

This event has passed!

DARLINGTON THEATRE PLAYERS at Marloo Theatre, Greenmount, present: 1916: A Love Story, is an original musical play written by West Australian resident, John Beaton, and directed by Neroli Sweetman, a renowned WA actor and director in many WA theatres including Regal Theatre in Perth. It is October 1916. Rose James is 18 and she has fallen in love with Paddy.

Rose lives in Glen Forrest and Paddy is training with the AIF at Blackboy Hill. So, they meet in secret among the spring wildflowers at John Forrest National Park. This story, a play with music and popular songs from 100 years ago, is about the women at home like Julia, whose son is fighting in France for the British Empire.

And the men at the Midland Railway Workshops who were bitterly divided about the upcoming vote about Conscription. Should men be made to go to war, or should they be volunteers?
